Bleeding is a very common symptom in early pregnancy.  This may indicate a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, but may just be due to simple changes on the cervix that can occur in pregnancy (cervical ectropion).  Women often experience some bleeding at the time of their first missed period.

The only way to check that the pregnancy is OK in the early stages is to have an ultrasound scan.
